Case study: Regency limestone – Full restoration work
30 June 2014
When the carpet was taken up in this very tired communal hallway, an original Regency limestone tiled floor with slate cabochons was glimpsed beneath the concrete and screed that was covering it.
We very carefully removed the concrete from both the surface and areas where broken tiles had been removed and filled in. With our specialist experience, we were able to identify where the limestone had originally come from and therefore able to source and match exact replacements for the missing tiles and those too damaged to save. We laid these in the traditional method using sand and limecrete.
We then hand finished each tile, cleaning, shaping, repairing and resurfacing, using electric hand tools, repointing where necessary. Finally we applied a natural wax and machine buffed to a stunning finish.
