Correcting “picture framing”

This limestone floor at the Hilton Hotel in Bath had developed “picture framing”. This is an effect caused by the discolouration of the stone around the edge of each tile, in this case produced by excessive grout being applied. We gave the floor a light grind and resealed with several coats of impregnating sealant.
