Case study: External stone – Re-cladding exterior limestone staircase

The render on this exterior limestone staircase had blown due to damp so the cladding had to be removed and the area re-tanked. Our brief was to cut off an existing stone cornice, extend it by six cm around the top of the staircase and then re-clad all of the horizontal surfaces using Portuguese limestone. We also had to ensure that the stone could vent moisture to reduce the possibility of the render blowing again. The project involved some very complicated calculations and precise cutting but the finished job looked fantastic.
